“They’re pretty poor. I didn’t have to touch them and I knew they were bad,” said Detective Sgt. William K. Covert.

They were almost as obvious as the copies of $1 bills he’s seen created by students trying to fool soda machines.

The paper didn’t feel right. It lacked the colored threads. And Andrew Jackson’s face was kind of fuzzy.

Ronald White, 35, was arrested for several counts of shoplifting from a Burlington Coat Factory and Shop-Rite on Route 130.  (Read More).

The raid happened at about 6 p.m. inside a home in the 700 block of Earp Street in South Philadelphia.

“We got three floors, they’re in every floor, in every bedroom, every room in the property,” George Bengal of the SPCA explained.

Bengal estimated approximately 100 animals, mostly Chihuahuas, were rescued from the home.

According to eyewitnesses, the floors of the home were covered in nearly two feet of animal feces.

Bengal described the woman who lived at the home as a hoarder who kept the animals inside the home.

The investigation into the home began a year ago when neighbors began complaining of an overwhelming stench coming from the house.

Sources told Eyewitness News that officials were trying for months to obtain a warrant to enter the home and were finally able to do on Wednesday after receiving a tip call.  (Read More).

Some residents of Hood County, Texas, believe two bizarre beasts killed near Fort Worth are real-life examples of the legendary “goat suckers” of Latin-American lore.

“I’m not sure on that part. All I know is, it wasn’t normal,” Animal Control Officer Frank Hackett told NBC DFW. “It was ugly, real ugly. I’m not going to tell no lie on that one.”

Hackett shot and killed the creature inside a barn owned by Jack Farr.

“This had deer ears, big teeth and pinkish skin like nothing I’ve ever seen before,” Farr said.

Several miles away, a rancher captured and killed another similar specimen this week — sparking speculation that there might be a pack of chupacabras, which, according to legend, kill and suck the blood of livestock.  (Read More).

Coppell Mayor kills daughter then self in apparent murder/suicide.  Police in Coppell, Texas, say the town’s mayor, Jayne Peters, shot and killed her 19-year-old daughter Tuesday evening before turning the gun on herself.

The apparent murder-suicide was discovered Tuesday when authorities went to Peters’ home after the mayor did not show up for a city meeting, Fox News reported.

Today, the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s office confirmed that Peters had killed herself after killing her daughter, The Associated Press said.

Corinne Peters, the mayor’s daughter, had just graduated from Coppell High School. She was to begin her freshman year at the University of Texas at Austin in the fall.

Following the 2008 death of Donald Peters — the mayor’s husband and Corinne Peters’ father — from cancer, the mother and daughter lived alone in Coppell, an affluent suburb of Dallas. (Read More).

Beavis and Butthead are back on MTV.  Beavis and Butt-head are coming back to MTV.

The New York Post’s Michael Starr reports that “Beavis and Butt-head” episodes are “in the works.”

The show, which was a hallmark of ’90s slacker culture, was canceled in 1997.

“The new series would keep Beavis and Butt-head in their perpetual high-school state, but it would be updated so that the pals — who obsessively watch music videos on a battered TV set — could lob their snarky comments at more current targets like Lady Gaga,” the Post reports. “The show’s minimalist animated style is also expected to remain intact.”  (Read More).

A drunk man who climbed into a crocodile enclosure in Australia and attempted to ride a 5m (16ft) long crocodile has survived his encounter.

The crocodile, called Fatso, bit the 36-year-old man’s leg, tearing chunks of flesh from him as he straddled the reptile.

He received surgery to serious wounds to his leg and is recovering in hospital, police say.

He had been chucked out of a pub in the town of Broome for being too drunk.

The man, who was not named by the police, climbed over a fence and tried to sit on the 800kg (1,800lb) saltwater crocodile.

“Fatso has taken offence to this and has spun around and bit this man on the right leg,” Sgt Roger Haynes of Broome police told journalists.

“The crocodile has let him go and he’s been able to scale the fence again and leave the wildlife park.”  (Read More).

Research into so-called ‘extinction events’ for our planet over the past 500 million years  – twice as long as any previous studies  – has proved that they crop up with metronomic regularity.

Scientists from the University of Kansas and the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC are 99 per cent confident that there are extinctions every 27 million years.

In the 1980s scientists believed that Earth’s regular extinctions could be the result of a distant dark twin of the Sun, called Nemesis. (Read More).

These days, he’s pitching solar energy with a new slogan — “Shine, baby, shine,” — soon to air on a television near you.

Hagman is the face of a new ad campaign for SolarWorld, the German company making solar cells in Hillsboro. He admits the slogan is a jab at Sarah Palin’s “Drill, baby, drill,” refrain during the 2008 presidential campaign.

“‘Shine, baby, shine’ is an inexhaustible source of energy,” said Hagman, who plans to address the Intersolar trade show today in San Francisco. “When affordable oil gives out, we’re in real trouble — I mean the collapse of civilization, within 15 to 20 years.” (Read More).

Defense lawyer Sarah Henderson made the allegation during opening arguments in the U.S. District Court trial of Allison Coss and Scott Sippola, even though the presiding judge last week ruled that testimony about whether the ‘ER’ and ‘Full House’ star had an intimate relationship with Coss would not be allowed. Opening statements are not testimony and cannot be considered by jurors as evidence but allow attorneys to outline the case they will present.

Stamos, who attended the trial’s opening day, declined comment to The Associated Press but is expected to testify.

His attorney, William Sobel, issued a statement through publicist Matt Polk that said: “The allegations made today in the courtroom by the defendants’ attorneys during opening statements will not be proven because they are simply untrue.” (Read More).
